Competition Judge
FINA is the International Swimming Federation which is recognized by the International Olympic Committee for administering international competitions in all aquatic sports. Based in Lausanne, Switzerland, FINA currently oversees competition in five aquatics sports: swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, water polo and open water swimming. In 2013, high diving began to emerge as another potential Olympic sport. Tim O'Brien is a FINA Certified International Diving Judge.
FINA Judging Certification is required for all Olympic, World Championship, World Cup, Pan American Games, Grand Prix and Commonwealth Games competitions. It is the highest standard for judges throughout the world. Today, United States Diving requires all National Championship judges to be FINA Certified and this requirement is now starting to be adopted by many of the collegiate conferences.
FINA Certified Judges are required to go through classroom testing, practical judging and video analysis during actual competitions on an ongoing basis and is the highest standard of qualification.
